Herbalist, accomplice murder, bury client

Herbalist, accomplice murder, bury client The State Security Service (SSS) yesterday in Anambra State paraded a native doctor and one other person for alleged murder and secret burial of a ‘client’.
The suspect, Sunday Asika aka Aboy Ekwensu and his accomplice, Uchenna Ibeh, were accused of secretly killing one John Nwosu from Ahiazu Mbaise in Imo State and burying him in a shallow grave.

Briefing journalists, the state Director of SSS, Mr Alex Okeiyi, said the incident took place at Obinabo village, in Nkpologwu, Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State. Okeiyi said the suspects used an English double-barrelled gun with serial No- 8773180 to kill their victim.
The SSS director added that when the native doctor’s shrine was combed by the security operatives, who acted on a tipoff, 10 live cartridges and a locally-made handcuff were recovered.
He said: “Ibeh confessed that the native doctor had asked the deceased to stay back for security reason on the fateful day only for him to shoot him to death about 11.30 while (he) Ibeh did the burying in an already dug pit. “Investigation showed the deceased was an intermediary between his brother in South Africa and the native doctor.
“The brother simply called Julius had sent him to the native doctor for a charm to make his business in South Africa flourish but the charm seemed not to have been effective. “The development forced the brother to demand refund of the money he paid for the charm, except it was made to perform, thus he was murdered and buried secretly.”
The SSS boss said that the body of the deceased had been exhumed in a shallow grave in the community by a homicide team from the state police command led by a pathologist. He described the native doctor as a terrorist, alleging that he had been providing spiritual protection to high profiled criminals in the state and its environs.
Okeiyi warned native doctors in the state to desist from evil deals or be ready to face the wrath of the law. “There is a culture of impunity of killing in the state,” the SSS director said.
