Osun 2014: Man dies testing anti-bullet amulet
Eid-el-fitir turned sour for the family of Sulaimon of Ashipa in Ife North Local Government Area of Osun State, when one of its sons, Rasheed, lost his life. The deceased died while testing the potency of an amulet to ward off bullets during the forthcoming governorship election in the state.
The development threw inhabitants of the area into a state of concussion. Investigation showed that before his death, Rasheed charged his cousin, Siji, to go with him to a nearby bush close to a church in the town to test the authenticity and workability of the charm made for him by a herbalist.
It was gathered that in the process of testing it, the bullet penetrated Rasheed’s body and he gave up the ghost. A witness, who identified himself as Adesola Adeola, told our correspondent that Rasheed, a bricklaying apprentice, persuaded Siji to direct the gun at him. Rasheed was quoted as telling Siji that “the gods have told him not to be fearful, adding that the gun will not have any effect on him”.
“When they got to the desolate place where the charm was to be tested, Siji was hesitant to shoot his cousin, but Rasheed insisted that the deities would protect him if he shoots him,” Adeola said. When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Folasade Odoro, said the police had not received the report of the incident from its divisional office in the local government.
