The Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on
Central Business Districts, Mr Olarenwaju Elegushi, said the hideout was
similar to previous criminal and ritual killers’ hideouts discovered in some
parts of the state some months ago by the police.
According to him, the criminals’ den was uncovered few
metres from Army flag House and the State House in Marina. He added that the
enforcement operation was sequel to the Governor’s directives to clear the area
of refuses, which had gathered under the bridge.
Elegushi said: “We received the Governor’s directives
to clear the area of refuses and debris, which had accumulated overtime. In the
course of carrying out the directives, we discovered the place, which had been
under surveillance for long. Criminal activities like rape and robbery take
place there.”
He disclosed that the Office of the Special Adviser on
CBD will leave no stone unturned to dislodge criminals on the Lagos Island and
make the Island business district safe for businesses.
Elegushi, who said that no arrest was made, disclosed
that items like charms and weapons were recovered from under the bridge. He
said that police authority and army settlement close to the area had been
notified of the discovery for necessary action.
