SARS chases final year undergraduate into well

A missing final year Business Administration student of the Ambrose Alli University, Saliu Haruna, has been found floating inside a well in the school.
Haruna’s bloated body was found floating in the well three days after he went missing.
The deceased was allegedly chased into the well by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), attached to the Edo State Police Command.
Our correspondent gathered that the deceased was among other students who took to their heels when SARS operatives stormed the campus on Friday last week.
According to the some of the students, the SARS men had stormed the school, shooting sporadically, on a mission that was yet unknown.
One of the students alleged: “Haruna was outside of his hostel washing his clothes when he suddenly saw policemen wearing SARS vest shooting sporadically into the air. Haruna abandoned his laundry and took to his heels. He knowingly plunged into the well in the process of trying to avoid the policemen. The policemen later left the campus without arresting any student.”
According to another student, it was improper for policemen in the state to enter campuses in order to harass students of tertiary institutions.
He explained that the incident happened in the afternoon when Haruna was outside downstairs washing his clothes and saw some students running after gunshots from SARS men that stormed the school.
The student further added that Haruna ran like every other student because nobody knew what the matter was.
The student added: “But after the policemen left, we did not see him back in the hostel.  Even the following day, which was on Saturday, we didn’t still see him so we became alarmed. It was on Monday morning that some students saw his lifeless and bloated body inside the well and raised the alarm.”
The Edo State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, said he was not aware of the incident. He, however, promised to investigate the matter and get back to our correspondent.
But as at press time, he was yet to get call our correspondent.
