Cultists on warpath: Aiye killed more than 12 of our members-Suspect

Three suspects, alleged of being members of Eiye Confraternity, have revealed how Eiye and Aiye confraternities’ members are daily killings one another at Seriki village area of Ogun State.

The suspects, Moses Anthony 20, Kabiru Ajao 28 and Samson Adagu 25, have been described by detectives attached to the Zone 2 Police Command, Onikan, Lagos State, as Killer Squad.
The three suspects confessed to being members of Eiye. Three guns were also alleged to have been recovered from them.
According to Adagu, the fight in Seriki village has always been between Eiye and Aiye and been going on for years. He disclosed that more than 12 members of Eiye have been killed by Aiye members in the community.
The latest in the carnage is the murder of Olakunle Adekunle aka Carlous, leader of Eiye in Ijokoro, Ogun State. The late Carlous was a 400 Level undergraduate of Animal and Health studies, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.
Carlous was attacked and his head shattered with a stone, while he was walking along the road by members of Aiye. The murder of Carlous led to Eiye members carrying out a reprisal, resulting in the shooting and subsequent murder of Lanre Welder. The suspects further alleged that two monarchs were behind the violence, killings and cultism in the village. They also said that one of the monarchs hired Aiye men to assist him in riding the community of Eiye members.
Adagu, who works as an Aluminum fabricator, said: “It was Aiye members that killed Carlous. When his friends in campus heard about his death, they came to Seriki village and joined forces with Eiye members there. They carried out a reprisal and shot Lanre Welder, a member of Aiye, to death. Aiye members are seriously waging war against Eiye members. They have killed more than 12 of our members.”
He, however, refused to mention how many Eiye killed in retaliation.
The Zone 2 Police Public Relations Officer (ZPPRO), Dolapo Badmus, said: “The Zonal Intervention Squad received information that some cultists were always disturbing the peace of Seriki village. They stormed the community arrested the three suspects, while others escaped. A search of their houses led to the discovery of cartridges, ammunition and guns.”
She continued: “The suspects confessed to have been involved in killings and counter killings. The Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Mr Adamu Ibrahim, has directed that investigations be thorough and suspects charge to court. They’ll be charged for murder and cultism.”
Anthony, from Benin Republic said that Carlous was his brother. He said he was at home, when policemen came to arrest him.
He added: “I came to Nigeria in 2010 to work as a bricklayer. A friend initiated me into Eiye.  I have never killed anyone. My brother, Carlous, was killed on the road by Aiye members. They ambushed him. Eight of his friends came from school to avenge his death. They killed Lanre Welder. All the guns belonged to Carlous. He brought them from school.”
Ajao stated: “I didn’t go with the gang on the day Lanre was killed. Carlous was killed last month, while Lanre was killed this month. I don’t why Carlous was killed, but the killers are working for a certain monarch.”
