Taxi driver dies, waiting for passengers



A taxi driver, simply identified as Idowu, has allegedly died of cardiac arrest in the Lagos Island area of Lagos State on Sunday.

According to eye witnesses, the incident occurred around 3: 30am, Idowu was waiting to pick a passenger at Alli Street. It is speculated that he died of cardiac arrest.
The driver, it was gathered, had been on the roadside for long, waiting for passengers to come. No passenger came.
He was going into his vehicle, which was parked by the roadside to rest when he hit his leg on a stone and fell down. He held his chest and started screaming for help.
He screamed continuously for help, but none came his way. He allegedly died on the spot.
A resident, who does not want his name in prints, said that he was on the balcony of his house, praying, when he heard Idowu screaming, holding his chest and fell down.
The resident said: “I saw him holding his chest around 3: 30am and later fell down after screaming for help. I didn’t come down to assist him because I was afraid of being arrested and accused by the police of killing him.
“The following morning, we informed police at Lion Building. An emergency ambulance came and evacuated the body.  His pocket was searched for his mobile phone. His family was called and alerted about the incident.”
The deceased, it was gathered resides at Agboole Mogaji at Patey area on the Island. He had since been buried according to Islamic rites
