The Ogun State Police Command has arrested eight men for allegedly robbing multinational companies.
According to the police, the suspects were arrested in Ali-Ishiba area of Sango-Otta. They were arrested after an anonymous tip off from a concerned Nigerian.
The stolen items include heavy duty batteries, radiators, kick-starters, among others.
A police source said: “The suspects broke into Coca-Cola warehouse in Otta and made away with the loot, valued N30million. Luck ran out on them after information reached the police about their activities. The policemen attached to Onipanu Division raced to the scene and arrested the suspects.”
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirming the arrest, said that the Commissioner of Police, Iliyasu Ahmed, has directed that the suspects be transferred to the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad (FSARS), Abeokuta.
Oyeyemi added: "The CP has, in his usual reaction to crime and criminality, ordered that the suspects, on completion of investigation, be prosecuted. The CP warned that the command would not leave any stone unturned in clamping down on criminals, who think they could find a haven in the state.”
