I’m a negotiator, not kidnapper, says English teacher

Operatives of the Special Intelligence Response Team (IRT), have arrested 26-year-old Aliyu Abdulganiu for allegedly kidnapping a 70-year-old man.

But the suspect has angry told the operatives that he wasn’t a kidnapper, but only negotiator for the kidnappers.
The suspect was arrested in Kogi State, after he had collected the ransom from the victim’s son. He was said to have been tracked by operatives of the IRT, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari.
Abdulganiu said that he was contracted by Don Jee the leader of the kidnap gang to assist him as a negotiator. He said that he and Don Jee lives in the same community in Kogi State.
Unfortunately, Don Jee couldn’t speak English and finds it difficult to communicate his ransom demands to victims’ families. Thus, he hired Abdulganiu to become his negotiator. Abdul is a Higher Diploma Holder (HND) and teaches English.
A police source said: “Don Jee is a notorious kidnapper. We are still hunting for him. We shall surely get him. He’s involved in several kidnappings in his community in Kogi State.”
Abdulganiu, married with kids, was said to have abducted the aged father of an engineer for ransom. He was alleged to have been paid N2million before he and gang released the old man.
Abdulganiu said that he was recruited by the leader of the kidnap gang, Don Jee, to negotiate with the man’s son for ransom.
His words: “I’m not a kidnapper. I’m a secondary school teacher.  The leader of the kidnap gang, Don Jee, approached me; he asked me to speak with the man’s son after he was kidnapped. When the ransom was paid, I was given N150, 000.  Don Jee doesn’t know how to speak English language and recruited me because he knows I speak the language fluently.”
