Badoo group cuts out pregnant woman’s foetus, kills husband, child

The dreaded Badoo group, known for ritual killings at the Ikorodu area of Lagos State, has struck again.
This time around, the group swooped on a family of four, killing father, pregnant wife and a child. One of the children, a girl, survived the attack.

The ritual killers slit the woman’s stomach and ripped out the foetus, which they made away with. It is believed that the family, like other families, which had fallen victims to Badoo groups, was targeted. The murder of the family occurred on Sunday at Itamaga area of Ikorodu.
The victims are; Israel Olusanya 45, Rukayat Olusanya 39, and Joseph Olusanya. The girl, Esther Olusanya, survived.
It was gathered that members of the neigbourhood watch, were able to grab four men believed to have committed the crime.
They were dragged to Imota Police Station. They were, however, alleged to have bled to death after they attempted to make confessions of the ritual killings.
The gruesome murder of the family occurred less than three weeks after the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni, ordered his police chiefs to do everything within the armpit of the law to ensure they stop the Badoo group.
According to residents, the group, on May 10, attacked a mother and her daughter at Isiwu town, Ikorodu, murdering them. Similarly, a student, who was about to write her West Africa Senior Secondary School Certificate and her parents were hacked to death by the group at Ibeshe, Tuntun area of Ikorodu on April 6.
In this latest ritual murder, the group was able to gain access into the victims’ home by cutting through the burglar-proof.
Residents said: “Immediately they got into the victims’ apartment, they smashed their heads with stone used for grinding pepper.”
Niehgbours got to discover the death on Thursday when members of the family were not seen. At about 12noon yesterday, the victims’ door was forced opened. They were found in a pool of blood. Cries of shock swept through the community.
A source in the area said: “The cult members killed the pregnant woman and then cut open her womb and brought out her foetus, which they made away with. The excess of the group is becoming unbearable. They are responsible for killings of different families in Ikorodu and its environs. They are also known for using different objects like grounding stone, pestle to attack their victims.
“The group, after killing members of the family, tied their faces with black clothes before escaping. They left residents in shock. We urge government to intensify efforts in getting rids of these killers from Ikorodu.”
Another resident, who also doesn’t want his name mention said: “Four suspected members of the gang were arrested by the local vigilantes. In fact, after the discovery, some vigilante men went into the town, in search of the group members. At least four of them were arrested and handed over to Imota Police Station. But to the surprise of the policemen, three of the suspects, while making confessions, started vomiting blood.
“The policemen were said to have stopped the fourth suspect, from making his own confession. The remains of the others had been removed and deposited at the Ikorodu General Hospital Mortuary.”
He added that: “The group’s mode of operation is to undress themselves whenever they get to the area where they want to operate. They’ll rub their bodies, from head to toes, with used engine oil, and then force themselves into their victims’ houses.”
The speaker believed that the group members raped the pregnant woman in the presence of her husband, before killing. He also believed that the killers, after raping the woman, used a white handkerchief to wipe her private part.
Israel had already been buried on Wednesday, while the wife and their son are expected to be buried today.
Confirming  the incident, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO),  ASP Olarinde Famous –Cole said the command has launched investigation into the incident and would soon apprehend the culprits involved.
