The leader of the Inspector General of Police
Special Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Mr Abba Kyari, has finally taken to his
Facebook wall, reacting to comment of a popular Nollywood actress comment on
her Twitter handle.
The actress has kicked against Kyari and his men
posing in a picture with suspected Nigerian billionaire kidnap
kingpin, Chukwumeme Onwuamadike, aka Evans. The actress described the picture
as unprofessional.
Reacting, Kyari said: “Friends, please the story going round social
media that I responded to the negative remarks made against us by Nollywood is false.
That statement is not from me. Number one, I’m too busy to respond to this type
of trivial issues; though it's unfortunate that when somebody goes extra length
and spent several years chasing an extremely
smart, notorious and deadly criminal terrorizing innocent citizens of this country
for over 20 years and suddenly somebody feels ridiculing us is the best thing
to do. Secondly, the group picture we had with our biggest catch Evans was
meant to be in our personal IRT achievement album not the social media and until
this moment we don't know who sent it to the social media. We have hard copy album
that carry all pictures of our outstanding achievements like the arrest of
Godogodo, China, Nnamdi, Yemi Boss, Abdullahi, Victor, Vampire and others.
“These are the pictures/album that we keep even after retirement to
celebrate our achievements. Those pictures are for this album not social media.
I’m happy to snap the pictures with Evans our biggest catch like we did during
Godogodo and others. It will remain in my album for life and by God's grace my grandchildren
will see same pictures and give kudos to their grandpa. Please, she is entitled to her opinion. I solicit that nobody should join issues with
her and I wish her the best.”
Some Nigerians also commented on the issue on social media.
Francis Dedeigbo: “Best response sir! Some people I
don't want to call a nincompoop will just sit in the comfort of their homes and
criticize officers who are working tirelessly to protect them. Or does the
whole Evans saga looks like Nollywood to her?”
Magaji Wurma said: “Keep on the good work, sir. Well-meaning
Nigerians are praying fervently for your protection and success. Your
achievements gladden our hearts and inspire young men like me to aspire for a
career in the police force.”
Ogunjemilusi Akinsola noted: “Picture or not, you
are performing. God will continue to grant you the grace of excellent with your
team. He will always shield and protect you and your family.”
Gabriel
Olalere added: “The arrest of Evans was a Team's work, though commanded by an ACP.
The Team is not independent; it’s part of the Nigeria Police Force Tactically
and for security consideration. The identity of the team ought not to have been
exposed to the general public. One would have expected the team to be commended
at the Force level, rather than on social media. I stand corrected.”
