The Police Service Commission (PSC)
has approved the redeployment of three commissioners of police.
According to a source, the affected
police chiefs are David Ajibola Akinremi, Garba Baba Umar and Ado Lawan.
They were deployed to Anambra,
Bauchi and Kwara states.
The source disclosed that Umar has
been moved from Bauchi Command to Anambra, while Akinremi, who was Deputy Force
Secretary, takes over from Umar in Bauchi.
The source, who disclosed that the
officers were ordered by his the Inspector- General of Police, (IGP), Ibrahim
Idris, to report at their new posts within 48 hours.
The source said: “Their posting to
these states may not be unconnected to operational and administrative track
records. Nobody will forget in a hurry, the performances of Umar, who arrested
Kabiru Sokoto while heading the IGP Analytical and Tracking Unit of the Force.
Also, as Commander Mopol 19, he did very well in checking the menace of militants
in Rivers State."
The source described Akinremi as a seasoned
police administrator of repute.
He added: "Akirenmi proved his
worth as Area E Police Commander, in charge of FESTAC, Lagos. He was also
Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of administration, Zone 5, Benin-City
and Imo State Police Command."
Lawan was a former Deputy
Commissioner of Police in charge of administration, Lagos State Police Command.
He was moved to Force General Investigation Department (FGID). He had only
recently been promoted to the rank of commissioner of police.
A senior officer in the office of
Police Public Relation Officer (FPRO), Mr Moshood Jimoh, who wishes to remain
anonymous, confirmed the posting of the police chiefs.
