Fadipe’s murderer feigns insanity, says family
The man who allegedly killed the human rights activist, Mr Kunle Fadipe, was said to have overpowered four persons, killed the activist and then feigned insanity. The lawyer’s sister-in-law, Abiola Owolabi, explained that the murderer was so powerful that he was not affected by several objects smashed on him.
She said: “We smashed a stool and a UPS on his head so that he could release the barrister. He never felt the impact at all. It was when the security guards in the estate overpowered him that we realised four of us were stabbed. “We cried for help but no neighbours came to assist us. We were unable to use his car because the key to the main gate could not be found. Before we could get a cab to the hospital, he had lost a lot of blood.”

Owolabi added that the assailant, after being arrested, began to pretend to be insane, claiming that he had been wandering about. One of Fadipe’s children, Folatunmise, said his father’s death was horrible and painful but the family had taken it as the God’s wish.
He said: “Irrespective of his disastrous end, I intend to be a lawyer to carry on the course he was fighting.” The victim’s brother, Mr Olaleye Fadidpe, disclosed that the police had commenced investigation into the murder, stressing that he hoped that justice would prevail.
The Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr Femi Falana, who was at the house of the deceased to express his condolences, said that the activist as fearless and an upright person. According to Falana, the poor medical services in the country, cum doctors’ strike contributed to Fadipe’s untimely death.
He said: “Kunle dedicated his entire life to the struggle for human rights and social justice. He fought to make Nigeria safe only for him to be brutally assassinated for no just course. Nigeria will miss Kunle dearly. “Whichever way you look at it, you cannot but question the integrity of society. Kunle risked his life to save lives of others. Unfortunately, nobody came to his aid.
