A 36-year-old step-father has been arraigned before the Ebute-Metta Chief Magistrates for sexually violating his 11-year-old daughter.
The accused, Daniel
Ediet, raped his daughter, God-gift Paul.
The little girl told
police that her step father sometimes in 2012 forced her into sexual act
whenever her mother was not around, and ever since then it has become a routine.
The defendant added that
after the first incident, she had not been feeling too secured at home but didn’t
really know how she could relate such incident to her mother.
Sick and tired of being
raped, the little girl finally opened up to her mother.
The shocked woman had
stormed to the police station, to report her husband.
The accused pleaded not
guilty, insisting that he had never once raped the girl.
The prosecutor,
Mr. Cyriacus Osuoji informed the court that the charges leveled against the
accused are punishable under sections 409, of the criminal laws of Lagos state
of Nigeria, 2011.
