FRAUDSTERS who hypnotised their victims to dispossess them of their
belongings have been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command at Ibara area of
Abeokuta Ogun State.
In a press release issued and signed by the Police Public Relations Officer,
Olumuyiwa Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, it was stated that
detectives attached to Ibara Division of the command apprehended the suspects
when one of their victims reported her ordeals in the hands of the suspects to
the police after they had collected some amount of money and valuables from her
and many others.
The suspects include Olabode Toyese (41), Abayomi Odeleye (42) and Kezeem
Adeyemo (29), said to be indigenes of Ondo, Ekiti and Ogun States respectively,
and they were said to have confessed to the crime and many others they had
committed.
The suspects reportedly operated in commercial taxi in Ogun state colour
belonging to the suspects and their friends with which they searched for and
lured passengers into discussions on dirty or attractive dubious business which
will eventually compel any ‘careless’ passengers into the discussion and dupe
them.
During interrogation, the police discovered that the syndicate had been in
the business for a long time, and the kingpin confessed that he used to operate
in Lagos before he moved to Abeokuta for his operations.
“The Commissioner of Police, Ikemefuna Okoye, has directed thorough
investigation into the case to make sure other members of the syndicate are
apprehended. The suspects are helping in our investigations and will be charged
to court so as to make them face the full wrath of the law.”
The PPRO said in the statement: “The command wishes to sensitize the general
public on this modus operandi of these fraudsters within the state and to alert
the general public to be careful so that they will no longer fall victims.
