A driver with the Guaranty Trust Bank,
identified only as Felix, was attacked on Wednesday morning by suspected
robbers around Olopomeji Bridge, Oworonshoki Expressway, Lagos.
Our correspondent learnt that Felix was on his way to pick the bank workers with the staff bus when he was attacked around 6am.
An eyewitness, Babajide Kabiawu, said the
robbers, after dispossessing him of the Toyota Hiace bus, pushed him
into an oncoming vehicle.
He said, “The man was going to pick
workers when the robbers attacked him. They took the bus from him and
pushed him into a moving car on the expressway which ran over his legs.
“We moved him toa side of the expressway
and called the Lagos State Emergency unit, but they did not get here
until 9am. Some policemen in a van also passed by, but they said it was
not their division.”
Kabiawu added that residents in the area
had urged the state government to deploy policemen on the bridge due to
the rising cases of theft, but had yet to see any result.
The Lagos State Deputy Police Public Relations Officer, Lelma Kolle, promised to call back.
