Five held for armed robbery

Police in Bayelsa State have arrested a suspected notorious armed robber, John Brigidi aka Timberland and four others in separate operations.
The suspects were apprehended for alleged armed robbery, car theft and recruitment of youths into violent crimes in the state. Brigidi was arrested alongside Tamara Kuro Joseph and Udoka Nezedike during a raid at Tenacious Junction, Gamas and Tony Mas filling stations at Akenfa area of the state capital for allegedly robbing a couple, Felicia and Johnson Adejuwon, at gunpoint.
Keneth Temiunsi, an indigene of Igbogene community in Yenagoa Local Government Area of the state, was arrested and another unidentified youth was arrested with a locally-made pistol and a stolen vehicle at Akenfa and Obele areas, respectively.
The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr Alex Akhigbe, said the raid was an ongoing exercise targeted at mopping up arms and checkmating theft and robbery in the state. He said: “Brigidi alias Timberland was arrested about 2.30am on the 16th of August, 2014 during a raid on the Akenfa area of the state following his identification by a couple robbed by the gang.
The couple were robbed at gunpoint about 8.30pm by the gang. On August 8, about 5am, armed robbers, operating in a NissanPrimerawagonwithregistrationnumberBY37BB, were chased and apprehended by the police patrol team and some concerned individuals. When the vehicle was recovered, three suspected stolen car stereos were recovered.
