Inside Brangelina's secret French wedding: How Brad Pitt 'gasped when he saw his bride in white dress and veil as sons sons walked her down the aisle and younger daughters scattered petals'

A spokesperson for Brad Pitt, 50 and Angelina Jolie, 49, confirmed the couple got married on Saturday in a small chapel in a private ceremony at Chateau Miraval, France, the property they bought in 2011.
A source tells E! News the Oscar winner walked down the aisle in a white dress which was 'very traditional, but very Angie, it was comfortable but plain white floor-length antique lace and silk.'
While the designer of the dress is still unknown, the website claims the star 'definitely wore something that once belonged to [her late mother] Marcheline Bertrand.

'It was a small locket with a photo of her mother inside it. She had a veil and Brad gasped when he lifted it because she looked so stunning.'
Jolie walked down the aisle with her eldest sons Maddox, 13, and Pax, 10, on each arm.
Her daughters Zahara, nine, and Vivienne, six, threw petals, and Shiloh, eight, and Knox, six, served as ring bearers.

E! adds that the boy all wore cream linen suits, just like Brad's, while the girls each wore a different dress of their choice.
The source adds that the wedding rings were designed by their good friend Robert Procop.
Prior to exchanging vows, the couple obtained a marriage license from a California judge.
The same judge also conducted the nondenominational civil ceremony in France.

The secret wedding seems to have been a quiet affair as Brad's brother Doug Pitt, sister Julie Neal and their respective families weren't in attendance.
Speaking from his home in Springfield, Missouri, Doug, 47, said: ‘I’m letting Brad make all the statements, it’s all good though.’
It is not yet clear if even Brad’s parents Jane and William, were at the wedding as William was contacted at his home in Springfield this morning – but declined to comment.

Angelina's father, the actor Jon Voight, was unaware of his daughter's wedding plans, telling Inside Edition that he didn't know she had married.
'That's nice', was his only comment.
After a short family honeymoon in Nice, the Jolie-Pitts headed to Malta on Wednesday to start shooting By The Sea, a film written and directed by the Oscar-winning actress, and the second in which they both star.

While details of the plotline are being kept under wraps, The Hollywood Reporter claims that the long-time lovers will play husband and wife in the flick, which is set to be released sometime in 2016.
It is the second marriage for Pitt, who was with first wife Jennifer Aniston for five years; and the third for Jolie, having previously been married to Jonny Lee Miller and Billy Bob Thornton.
Already, Pitt's pal and Ocean's Eleven co-star George Clooney has shared his congratulations, telling Entertainment Tonight: 'How great is that?!! I'm really happy for Brad and Angie and their whole family.'
Brad showed off his wedding ring for the first time on Thursday, at a photocall for his WWII movie Fury, in Dorset.

In an interview with Australia's TV Week, the Oscar winning actress revealed she and her now husband kept in touch the old fashioned way while he worked on the wartime epic, and she her own movie, Unbroken, by mailing letters to each other from opposite ends of the world.
'He was supportive from a distance and it was quite romantic in a way,' the 39-year-old said.
'We decided to be of that time, when we could imagine he was in the European theatre and I was in the Pacific theatre, and we wrote handwritten letters to each other that were very connecting for us, thinking of the people that were separated for months, if not years, at a time back then.'

They got engaged two years ago, but in May, Angelina said she hadn't organised anything for their big day and she hasn't even bought a wedding dress.
She told USA Today: 'We don't have any plans to get married at the moment. Nothing is organised. Nothing is ready. I don't have a dress.'
And while many celebrities have complained about interest in their private lives in recent weeks - including Charlize Theron's insensitive statement that press intrusion is comparable to rape - Angelina acknowledged that she understands people care about her wedding.
She said: 'It matters to us in a very private way. But we also understand that we're public people.'
Angelina previously revealed that their children were planning the wedding and she and Brad may end up wearing camouflage in a paintball wedding extravaganza if their kids get their way.

She told People magazine: 'We will get married, and we're not in a rush, so we're just waiting for it to be the right time with the kids, with work, when it feels right,. We talk about it occasionally, and the kids talk about it with us.
'We all kind of think about how we imagine it or what it might be. So we've started to do that but we haven't made any definite plans'.
Although, she went on to explain that the children's vision of the wedding is 'verging on hysterical'.

'But we are discussing it with the children and how they imagine it might be. Which is verging on hysterical, how kids envision a wedding,' the Mr And Mrs Smith star said.
'They will in a way be the wedding planners. It's going to be Disney or paintball - one or the other!'
She added: 'We've got a lot of different personalities in the house. They've got some strong opinions. It will be fun. That's the important thing. When we do it, it will feel like a great day for our family.

Brad had said, after proposing to Angelina in 2012, that they wouldn't get married until same sex marriage was legalised across the US
'We made this declaration some time ago that we weren’t going to do it till everyone can. But I don’t think we’ll be able to hold out,' the actor said, and clearly he was right.
It was on their first film, 2005's Mr & Mrs Smith, that Brad and Angelina fell in love. Although the Fight Club star was married to Jennifer Aniston while shooting took place, the pair have always denied cheating allegations.
‘To be intimate with a married man, when my own father cheated on my mother, is not something I could forgive,’ she said at the time.
However, they have both admitted to falling for each other while they played married assassins in the blockbuster. Speaking in 2008, Brad revealed the movie was among his favourites, explaining: 'Because you know... six kids. Because I fell in love.'

THE VENUE: CHATEAU MIRAVAL

The couple bought their lavish 35-bedroom estate, Chateau Miraval, in 2011 for an eye-watering $60million.
The sprawling property is where Brad proposed to Angelina in early 2012, and where the family reportedly vacationed following the actress' double mastectomy.
The couple's six-year-old twins, Knox and Vivienne, also have ties to the region, as they were born in nearby Nice.
Tom Bove owned Chateau Miraval from 1992 to 2011 started leasing the property to the couple in 2008 before buying it from him.
Now he lives about 30 minutes away and continues to distribute the wine produced at their vineyard.
Tom painted an exclusive picture for E! News of what the A-listers' nuptials could look like.
‘Miraval is absolutely incredible. It is two kilometres from the road to the home and then another two kilometres to the other end of the property,' Tom said.
'So it's very remote and beautiful. And it has a very special smell—when you are there the air is filled with the smell of winter jasmine, thyme and rosemary.’
In a 2011 interview with Parade magazine, Brad also said that he felt  'pathetic' and he 'wasn't living an interesting life' while married to Jennifer.
'I think that my marriage had something to do with it. Trying to pretend the marriage was something that it wasn't,' the actor explained.
He met Aniston in 1998, married her in 2000but five years later they were divorced.
Before Jen, Brad dated Gwyneth Paltrow from 1994 to 1997, but the Glee star claims she broke his heart when she ended their engagement.
Gwyneth told Diane Sawyer: 'My kind of internal stuff really tripped up that whole relationship. And I felt really responsible, and also like I was the architect of my own misery … I just made a big mess out of it.'
However, she doesn’t regret the time they spent together.
Gwyneth said: 'I'm so lucky that I spent time with Brad, somebody who was such a good person! Especially when I was, like, such a mess.'
She even admitted she grieved for the relationship for five years afterwards, saying: 'I was very upset for a long, long time.'
Brad's other famous exes include Juliette Lewis, Sinitta and Robin Givens.
Angelina has been married twice before, the first time to her Hackers co-star, British actor Jonny Lee Miller, the second to US actor Billy Bob Thornton.

At her 1996 wedding ceremony to Jonny, she wore black rubber jeans and a white T-shirt on which she had scrawled his name in her own blood.
The marriage lasted a year-and-a-half, ending amid reports of her infidelity. She behaved in a similarly crazy manner with her next husband Billy Bob who she enjoyed a two-month courtship with after he ended his engagement to fellow actress Laura Dern.
Just days before the wedding, Angelina was admitted to a psychiatric ward for 72 hours after nearly having a breakdown.
Clearly having a thing for life essence, Jolie and Thornton wore vials of each other’s blood around their necks and bought adjoining lots in a graveyard.

‘We’re never going to separate’, she vowed, but their marriage in 2000 ended after three years.
Her love life has rarely seemed conventional, as she has admitted to dabbling in lesbianism, threesomes and sado-masochism.
It was lust at first sight when she embarked on a relationship with U.S. actress Jenny Shimizu, and the couple would cruise LA strip clubs in hot pants and a skintight vest.
Shimizu claimed that her relationship with Jolie lasted many years, even while the star was supposedly involved with other people.

As well as her well-documented romantic past, Angelina's drug issues is something she has tried hard to move on from having admitted to doing the 'most dangerous' narcotics on offer during the Eighties and Nineties.
'I went through heavy, darker times and I survived them,' Jolie told 60 Minutes. 'I didn't die young, so I'm very lucky. There are other artists and people who didn't survive certain things.'
'I think people can imagine that I did the most dangerous and I did the worst - and for many reasons I shouldn't be here.'
Last February, the mother of six underwent a double mastectomy after genetic tests indicated she had a high risk of developing breast cancer.

Brad fully supported Angelina's decision to have the surgery after learning she had an 87 per cent chance of developing breast cancer because she carries the BRCA1 gene mutation.
The actress went ahead with the operation so she can be around for her kids and Brad insists they can be no better motivation as the couple love the 'chaos' of their big household and the bond they all share.
He explained: 'I always thought that if I wanted to do a family, I wanted to do it big.
'I wanted there to be chaos in the house ... there's constant chatter in our house, whether it's giggling or screaming or crying or banging.

'I love it. I love it. I love it. I hate it when they're gone. I hate it. Maybe it's nice to be in a hotel room for a day - 'Oh, nice, I can finally read a paper.' But then, by the next day, I miss that cacophony, all that life.'
Brad praised Angelina as ‘heroic’ after she published a piece in the New York Times revealing she had undergone the double mastectomy last week.
'We set up our own little post-op recovery that became pretty fun. You make an adventure out of it,' he later told USA Today.

'I'm quite emotional about it, of course,' Brad said. 'She could have stayed absolutely private about it and I don't think anyone would have been none the wiser with such good results.
'But it was really important to her to share the story and that others would understand it doesn't have to be a scary thing. In fact, it can be an empowering thing, and something that makes you stronger and us stronger.'
As Brangelina finally tie the knot, Jennifer Aniston's comments on The Today Show seem far more poignant.
Brad's ex-wife told Carson Daly on Wednesday, that she often feels less of a woman because of her life choices, as she is bombarded with questions about starting family.

'It's just constant and I'm like ''Look I don't know,'' Jen, 45, who is engaged to actor Justin Theroux, explained. 'I don't have this sort of check list of things that have to be done.
'And if they are not checked, then I've failed some part of my feminism or my being a woman or my value or my worth as a woman because I haven't, you know, birthed a child?
She added: 'I've birthed a lot of things and I feel like I've mothered many things and I don't think it is fair to put that kind of pressure on people.'
