The Lagos State Taxi Drivers and Cab Operator Association, Ojodu Retail Market, branch has arrested two Chadians for allegedly stealing phones.
They handed over the suspects to the police. Luck ran out on the two robbery suspects identified as Ibrahim Ali (23) and 25-year-old Ali Barisa yesterday at the busy Berger bus stop, when they posed as customers and stole three brands of phone from a shop owner.
It was gathered that three persons, among them the two suspects, approached a seller to buy phone but to the surprise of the trader, two packs of phone had disappeared.
The trader, Miss Rahmot Adeyemi, told our correspondent that she got to the bus stop very early to trade before any of her colleagues selling phones. She said: “I was so happy when I saw the three of them; my thought was that they would all buy phones.
One of them asked for the price of D800 brand of phone from me and I told him it was N3,500. “He asked me to sell it for him for N3,000 and I said no.
Then the two of them started speaking Hausa language, one was telling the other to hide the phone and run away. “I challenged one of them why he should tell his friend to disappear with my phone.
As the matter was going on some other traders at the bus stop who were listening to our conversation ran after one of them and recovered the phones from him.”
