Devil made me impregnate 13-year-old, says man

A 32-year-old, who has put a 13-year-old girl in the family way, has blamed his action on the devil.

The man, Lateef Gbolahan made his confessions at the Oke-Odo Police Station, while fielding questions from enraged policemen.

Police investigators said that the girl, simply called Esther, is already two months pregnant.

Gbolahan would have gotten away with frequent sexual intercourse with Esther, if not that the girl got pregnant.

Esther said she was scared to spill the beans to her parents, but finally had to after people started noticing signs of pregnancy.

She reportedly said: “I didn’t tell anybody because uncle Gbolahan said he would kill me if I tell anyone.”

The parents were said to have been shocked out of their wits because Gbolahan was not just their neighbour in the compound, but was gentle, kind, respectful and well liked. They said they never knew he was a wolf in sheep clothing.

While police alleged that he had violated the girl several times, Gbolahan vehemently denied the allegation, insisting, “I’ve only had sex with her three times!”

The minor explained that she was afraid to tell anybody until people began to notice the changes in her.

The mother of the girl said that the police should allow Gbolahan to go, if he promised to take care of her daughter.

The suspect’s wife was said to be very worried and ashamed that her husband could do such a thing. The wife was said to have cried: “Ha, the devil has crept into our home to disgrace us. The devil has succeeded."

A police inspector attached to the station said: "The suspect said that it was the devil that made him to have sex with the young girl. He used to send the girl on errand and her parents didn’t see anything bad in that. But whenever he sent the girl on errand, he would lock the door once she returns. He would then force her to have sex with him.  He said he had had sex with her only three times. Now the girl is two months pregnant. We’ve transferred the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, Lagos State.”
