Lagos gives police 100 ICT centres

Lagos gives police 100 ICT centres
Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Fashola, said his administration had built 100 Information Communication Technology (ICT) resource centres in 100 police formations in the state.

Fashola disclosed this in Lagos yesterday while inaugurating and handing over one of the ICT centres to the state Commissioner of Police, Kayode Aderanti, at Area ‘F,’ Ikeja.
The governor said the ICT centres would help the police keep detailed records of exhibits and also clean up the environment in which they worked. He said: “All over the world, police stations are known to have very clean environment. I also believe that the environment in which people do their work influences the way they see themselves and their attitude to work.
“We want you to work in a clean environment that boosts your personal self-esteem and makes you feel happy when you come to do your work.” Fashola challenged all police officers in Lagos to make good use of the facilities and ensure they are well updated in ICT standard and compliance.
The governor also advised the police to be good ambassadors of the state. He said: “We are handing over 100 ICT centres in about 100 police formations in Lagos.
We advise the policemen to make good use of it and have the right people to manage the facilities. We also ask our policemen and women to be good ambassadors of the state and should not in any way use their uniforms to harass any person.”
While thanking the governor for the gesture, Aderanti said the provision of ICT resource centre will provide a friendly environment that will help the officers to be at ease and perform their duties.
