Today, she’s asking herself what the heck she did wrong in accepting Jude’s marriage proposal. The marriage has not only crumbled like a pack of cards, but the couple is now facing each other in court like two sworn enemies.
The marriage started snowballing after Jude for reasons yet unknown, but believed to be connected to his relationship with other men, embraced the alien culture of beating his wife.
She said: “He moves around with young men. He is also in the habit of bringing strange men into our house. Whenever they come to the house, they would take over our matrimonial bed and kitchen. Whenever he brings his male friends, I have to vacate the bedroom for them and move to the guest room.”
The last beating landed Gloria in hospital, which eventually led to their being in court. In spite of being severally maltreated and abused by Jude, Gloria appeared to still have a soft spot for her once loving husband. She appealed to the Kirikiri Magistrate Court, where their domestic violence case is being heard, not to send Jude to jail.
