Man jailed 10 years for defiling girl, 16

An Abakaliki Magistrates’ Court has sentenced a 21-year-old man, Chibueze Okpani, of Oso Edda in Afikpo South Local Government Area of Ebonyi State to 10 years imprisonment for defiling a 16-year-old girl, Ezinne (surname withheld).

Okpani was said to have abducted Ezinne on her way to buy recharge cards for her aunty on May 8, 2015 and took her to his friend’s house at Ndiopko village in the area where he raped her for three days. The girl suffered injuries after the act.
A medical examination conducted on her by Dr. M. N. Urom of General Hospital, Oso Edda, showed that the victim had vaginal orifice with copious discharge following the rape. The magistrate, Stella Ogoke, found Okpani guilty of the offence and sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment.
