Residents of Arepo in Ogun State yesterday embarked on a protest over
discovery of bodies of three residents reportedly executed by naval
personnel.
The naval officials stationed in Arepo to check activities of
petroleum pipeline vandals were said to have picked up the victims
whose names were given as Biodun Mohammed, Chicago and Body, on Sunday
at a beer joint.
They allegedly dragged the men inside the bush at Voera
Estate before executing them. Mohammed (24) was said to be a furniture
maker.
The acting Director, Defence Information, Brig. Gen. Rabe Abubakar,
did not pick his calls to confirm the report. But the state Police
Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the police had begun
investigation into the killing. Adejobi disclosed that the police were
making arrangements to evacuate the bodies to the mortuary.
He said: “The Ibafo division of the command got the information that
three people were taken by some men at a beer parlour on Sunday around
8p.m, and they were shot dead and their corpses were floating on the
high sea at Arepo. We are investigating and we are going to get the
perpetrators.
