Corporal receives CP’s certificate for gallantry

Corporal Hassan Aminu has received the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Edgal Imohimi’s commendation for gallery.

Aminu, with Force No. 457046, was commended for confronting and shooting to death two armed robbers during a gun duel.

Imohimi made the commendation on January 23, 2018, at the Police Headquarters, Ikeja.

The CP said that Aminu, attached to Mobile Police Force, Squadron 20, was posted to China Civil Engineering Construction Company (CCECC), located at Odunade, Alaba. He was at his duty point when he sighted a group of armed robbers along the Lagos/Badagary road.

Imohimi said: “The armed robbers, who came in a motorcycle, were attacking motorists. The robbers immediately fled when the policeman moved closer. The Corporal initiated a hot pursuit, caught up with the hoodlums at Alakija and engaged them in a gun battle. Two of the hoodlums were eventually gunned.  One locally made pistol, one Nokia phone, a bag filled with valuable items and a motorcycle were recovered."

Imohimi urged other policemen to emulate the heroism of Aminu as he presented him with the Commissioner of Police's Certificate of Commendation. He added that the certificate would be kept in the policeman's file to give him an edge over his colleagues whenever it was time for promotion.
