Speaking on the incident, the Public Affairs Officer of the Fire Service, Bola Ajao, said firefighters
from the Ikotun Fire Service Station responded to the distress call about 2p.m. and met the victim battling for his life inside the well.
“We responded to the distress call about 2p.m. from the Ikotun Fire Service Station and promptly with the modern equipment available for the service men, they were able to rescue the victim even as it was almost impossible, considering the depth of the well and the trapping of the victim by materials inside the well. “Our team, led by SF Taiwo, got to the scene after the distress call and with the availability of modern equipment and timely deployment of these equipment, were able to save the man from the brink of death in a nine-minute operation,” Ajao said.
The firefighters, with support from policemen, rescued the man while the victim was taken to the General Hospital, Igando, for medical attention. Ajao enjoined Lagos residents to take safety and security very seriously and should not hesitate in making emergency calls to necessary responders for prompt attention to save lives and property when emergency occurs.
