The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan zonal office on Wednesday, January 24, 2018 arraigned one Alhaji Ibrahim Adesina Adeyemi before Justice M. L. Akintola of the State High Court sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State.
He was arraigned on one-count charge of stealing contrary to Section 390 of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, and Laws of Oyo State.
The charge reads:
“That you, Alhaji Ibrahim Adesina between 15th January, 2017 and 27th January, 2017 at Ibadan within the jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, converted to your personal use, the sum of N6,518,228 (Six Million, Five Hundred and Eighteen Thousand, Two Hundred and Twenty-Eight Naira) property of one Olalekan Lawal given to you, to buy Generator Set and LG Air Conditioner Units for his Event Centre at Agara Odo Eja, off Akala way, Ibadan and thereby committee an offence”.
The defendant however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
In view of his plea, prosecution counsel, Adeola Elumaro prayed the court for a trial date. However, counsel to the defendant, Bolarinwa Lawal, informed the court that he had earlier in the morning filed a bail application on behalf of his client. He urged the court to allow the defendant remain in the EFCC custody pending hearing of the bail application.
Justice Akintola adjourned to January 31, 2018 for hearing of the bail application and ordered the defendant to be remanded in EFCC custody.
