He said: “I don’t abuse my children. I usually drop them with neighbours whenever I’m going out. You know that I can’t just sit at home and expect manna to fall from heaven.
I need to go out and work. Only God will judge whoever is lying against me. I don’t know why my
children are also lying against me. I was surprised when Neighbourhood Corps officials came to my house to arrest me.
They claimed to have information that I was sexually defiling my children. “I immediately followed them to their office. When we got there, they said that I was forcing my children to have sex with me. I then told them that I didn’t know what they were talking about. “There are thousands of ladies outside, why would I defile my children? I had issue with my wife, which was why she divorced me.
Since the divorce, I have been the one taking care of the children alone. I don’t sleep with my children. The person, who gave that information to Neighbourhood Corps, is just trying to separate me from my children. I can’t do without them; that was why I didn’t allow their mother to take them. I don’t know where the trouble is coming from, but I know that I will overcome it.”
The state Commissioner of Police, Imohimi Edgal, said Adefemi was arrested on February 2, by Neighbourhood Corps officials. He said: “When the arrest was made, and the children rescued, the three years old had sustained injury in her private part due to forceful penetration by her father.
“The two other siblings were also abused by the suspect who is their father. Whenever they refused him penetration through their anus, he beats them on a daily basis for refusing him access to them.”
The commissioner said that the three year-old-girl had been taken to hospital for examination and treatment while the other two had been placed in a temporary home for proper observation of their health. Edgal further warned parents and guardians to be extra careful when caring for female children.
