THERE are strong indications that banks may have reneged on their earlier collective decision to scrap the N100 charge on the usage of Automated Teller Machine (ATM) of banks in which users’ accounts are not domiciled.
Investigations by the Nigerian Tribune showed that none of the banks has complied with the agreement as customers are still made to part with N100 when such transaction is made.
In his reaction, the Director, Corporate Communications, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr Ugochukwu Okoroafor, said there was little the apex bank could do as the decision was taken by the banks at the last Bankers Committee meeting.
He was, however, optimistic that the banks would do something about it, stating that the CBN would engage them on the issue with a view to respecting the decision.
