Major General, S.U Abdualkadir is to head the military’s probe into the twin bomb blasts that hit St. Andrew’s Protestant Church at the Jaji Military Cantonment penultimate Sunday, investigation has revealed.
Abdukadir is the Head of Directorate Army Standard Evaluation and the Nigerian Army Headquarters, Abuja.
It was learnt that Abdulkadir would be in charge of the investigation expected to be carried out by the two military panels constituted to look into the twin bomb explosions considered to be an affront to the military.
Military authorities had put the figure of those killed in the blasts including two suicide bombers at 17, while over 30 persons sustained different degrees of injuries.
However, the Director of Defence Information, Col. Mohammed Yerima, could not confirm the head of the probe panel set up by the Defence Headquarters and Nigerian Army to our correspondent.
He said, “Honestly, I don’t know the head of the panel, I mean the two panels because I didn’t bother to know. All I know is that panels have been set up.”
The Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ola Ibrahim, had announced the immediate removal of the Commandant of the Armed Forces Staff College, Air Vice-Marshal I.A Kure and replaced him with Air Vice-Marshal E.E Osim in a Defence Headquarters statement on Friday.
Also, the Corps Commander of the Infantry Corp, Maj.-Gen. M.D Isah, was immediately replaced with Maj.-Gen. K.C Osuji.
Although the statement by Yerima stated that the removal took immediate effect, it was learnt that the formal handing over ceremony would commence on Monday (today).
