Jaji bombing: Commandant, Infantry Corps Commander removed

Barely one week after the bombing of St. Andrews Protestant Military Church at the Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Jaji, Kaduna State, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Admiral Ola Sa’ad Ibrahim, has relieved the College’s Commandant, Air Vice Marshal I. A. Kure, and the Infantry Corps Commander, Major General M. D. Isa of their appointments.
Their removal was predicated upon the report of the Board of Inquiry constituted to investigate circumstances surrounding last Sunday’s bombing of the church.  A statement issued yesterday by Defence Headquarters, signed by its spokesman, Colonel Mohammed Yerima, and made available to the media in Abuja, revealed that Kure and Isa were sent back to their various services, the Air Force and Army headquarters for further action.
Air Vice Marshal E.E. Osim was appointed to replace Air Vice Marshal I. A. Kure as Commandant, Armed Forces Command and Staff College (AFCSC), while Maj-Gen K.C. Osuji would act as Corps Commander, Infantry, Jaji.  After the bombing, the CDS visited the scene for assessment, after which he went into a crucial session with the Principal Staff Officers of the College, where Sunday Sun learnt he read the riot act over the security situation at the college.
