LG official shot, driver killed in Kano



Gunmen on Christmas Day, shot the Interim Management Officer of Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State, Alhaji Musa Kambai Sumaila, injuring him and killing his driver. Daily Sun investigation showed that the interim management officer was injured by the assailants and had been rushed to an unnamed hospital in the state capital.
The incident happened at about 11.00 am in the morning. It was gathered that the suspects rode on motorbikes and attacked their victims at a spot in Salarai area , a settlement behind the Federal Government College, Kano, where terror related activities had been recorded in the past. The name of the deceased driver could not be ascertained, but it was gathered that the interim management officer, who is of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had been operated upon, while the bullets had been removed from him.
Contacted over the development, Kano State Police Command Public Relations Officer (PPRO), ASP Magaji Majiya confirmed the incident and held that the police had commenced investigation into the incident. It could be recalled that a number of high profile persons who hold political offices in the state had been the targets of recent attacks by the unidentified gunmen.
