Yobe Refutes Report Of Govt Officials Fleeing State

The Yobe State government has refuted rumours making the round that government official, including commissioners and legislators have fled the state for fear of insecurity.
In a statement signed and made available to LEADERSHIP yesterday by the Special Adviser on Press Affairs and Information to Governor Ibrahim Gaidam, the state government said it was unfortunate that some people had chosen to rubbish the effort of government in providing security.
It said the Gaidam administration remained faithful to its mandate and continued to deliver on its target to transform the state, in spite of the security challenges in the state.
The statement expressed sadness that the Chairman, Northern State Governors Forum (NSGF), Dr Babangida Aliyu would choose to believe a newspaper report that government institutions had moved out of Yobe State, saying, “ the state government takes seriously security challenges facing the state.
“If the Niger State government feels strongly about the report, we would expect that the first thing he would do was to contact his colleague in Yobe to find out it was true that his commissioners and lawmakers in the state were moving to Jigawa or Kano.
“We, therefore, state categorically that no government official has relocated to Kano or Jigawa, nor has anyone given up in Yobe State over the security situation,” he added.
