Gunmen attack police station in Borno, cart away 60 cows in village

GUNMEN suspected to be members of the Boko Haram sect, attacked and razed the police station in Shani, the headquarters of Shani Local Government Area of Borno State and made away with a patrol vehicle of the station.
A resident of Shani disclosed this to the Nigerian Tribune on phone, adding that the gunmen came on motorcycles.
This is the first time Shani town would be attacked by Boko Haram terrorists since the crises of Boko Haram insurgency in 2009.

The resident said the gunmen did not attack any place apart from the police station, adding that people fled into  the bush for fear of attack.
“As I am speaking to you now, the casualty figure cannot be ascertained. Most of us fled into the bush and we cannot say anything for now,” he said.
Another resident, Malam Ibrahim Idi, said the gunmen, after attacking the station, also carted away armouries.
In a related development, gunmen attacked Mandaragirau village of Biu Local Government Area and carted away 60 cows.
A resident told the Nigerian Tribune on phone that the gunmen came at about 10.00 p.m on Sunday and shot sporadically for some hours before they carted away 60 cows.
He, however, said no life was lost.
Speaking with the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Gideon Jibrin, on phone, he said the command had just received the information.
