Oyeniyi said the drug administered on her on June 7and 8, 2014 nearly caused her death and accused the hospital of negligence.
In a suit no; AK/ 164 / 2014 filed by her
counsel, Segun Akanmode, the patient is praying the court to grant her
the sum of N10 million as general, exemplary and aggravated damages for
negligence.
She is also asking for the sum of N6,000 collected from her as payment for the “expired drugs” among other claims.
Attached to the suit were copies of
prescription notes by the doctor on duty, hospital receipts duly signed,
some drugs she claimed had expired and other related documents.
But the hospital’s Chief Medical Director, Dr. Adeniran Ikuomola, said the claims of the patient were not correct.
He told journalists that he would rather prefer her counsel to meet with the hospital’s management to resolve the matter.
Ikuomola said, “I have personally gone
into the matter . I have looked into the nurses’ reports from the ward
independently. So the claims are not true.
“Meanwhile, I will appreciate if the woman’s counsel can allow us to meet and resolve the issue.
“Although, we are a government institution, we are not afraid of anything. If she decides otherwise, we will meet in the court.”
