Death toll in Azare robbery operation rises to 10

THE death toll in Sunday’s robbery operation in Azare, headquarters of Katagum Local Government Area of Bauchi State in which four armed robbers were killed, has risen to 10, including the robbers, while not less than eight people were injured in the failed operation.
The Nigerian Tribune had reported on Monday that soldiers killed four suspected armed robbers, who invaded a seed market in Azare at the weekend in a broad daylight robbery operation and carted away a large sum of money.
It was gathered that following the recent incessant killings in the town, the people of Azare town got pissed off and joined forces with security operatives to pursue the suspected armed robbers, having cordoned off all possible escape routes in the town with a view to preventing them from escaping with their loot.
A community leader, who pleaded anonymity while speaking with journalists in a telephone interview from Azare, stated that 10 people were killed.
Meanwhile, the Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, Mallam Mohammed Ladan, confirmed to journalists that the four suspected armed robbers, who attacked seeds market in Azare were gunned down by the security operatives.
