Brothers arrested for alleged murder

Two brothers, Sunday and Gbenga Akinye, have been arrested for the alleged killing of a community leader, Chief Joseph Omosuyi, at Ilu Titun in Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State. Omosuyi was reportedly murdered on Sunday.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Mr. Femi Joseph, who disclosed this, said the police had commenced investigation into the matter while the two suspects were in custody.
This development came as Joseph said the police had not established the whereabouts of reverend sisters kidnapped in the same area also on Sunday. One of the suspects was said to have hit Omosuyi in the chest during an argument which ensued during a family meeting at Agirifor area of the town.
A source explained that the deceased, who was a retired vice-principal, slumped and was rushed to the hospital. He, however, gave up the ghost on the way. It was gathered that the incident almost caused crisis in the community as the youth reportedly gathered to avenge the death of the 62-year-old community leader.
Police, however, intervened to douse the tension. Joseph also said that the matter had been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Akure, for further investigation. Meanwhile, the PPRO said that the police had no inkling yet on the whereabouts of the reverend sisters, who were kidnapped by gunmen.
