The residents of Mowe in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Ogun
State were shocked to discover that an angry mother of two has strangled
her landlady to death.
The suspect, simply identified as Shakirat, 33,
was alleged to have pounced on her landlady, Saidat Ishola, held her by
the throat and snuffed life out of her while the latter was sleeping in
her apartment.
Saidat and Shakirat had a little disagreement on Saturday morning
over electricity bill and disconnection, with the tenant complaining
that her apartment had been cut off from the power supply, while other
tenants were enjoying light. Samson Ishola, the landlady’s son
recounted: “The woman fought with my mum and torn her clothes. She
complained that the power supply to her apartment was disconnected. Some
elders in the area settled the matter for them.
My mother and Shakirat went back to their different apartments.
“Unfortunately, we were told later in the evening that Shakirat went
back to my mother’s apartment, where she was sleeping and strangled her
to death. “I had left home very early in the morning to my workshop. It
was in my workshop that someone told me to go back home that my mother
and one of our tenants were fighting her.
“When the suspect was strangling my mum, my uncle’s pregnant wife who
was in the bedroom relaxing heard the scream of my mother. She ran into
the apartment and tried to assist my mother, but the suspect
overpowered her. Immediately the suspect killed my mum, she ran away
without taking anything from her room.” Policemen from Mowe Police
Station deposited the victim’s body at the Olabisi Onabanjo University
Teaching Hospital
