SARS arrest kidnappers plotting to abduct businessman



Detectives attached to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja, Lagos State Police Command have arrested five kidnappers while they were plotting to abduct a businessman.

The kidnappers where busted at DeCool Hotel Ojodu Berger, Lagos State, where they lodged and were perfecting plans on how to abduct the businessman when police surprised them.
The arrest and operation which occurred on March 7, 2015, was led by officer in charge of SARS, Mr. Abba Kyari.
A police source said: “Kyari and a team of SARS went after the kidnappers based on a tip-off giving to the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Kayode Aderanti. The CP quickly acting on the information, instructed Kyari and his men to track down the kidnappers. We’ve discovered that they were trying to abduct a businessman in Magodo Estate.”
The suspects presently in SARS custody are Edet Ekuno 32, Chukwudi Deckson 40, Sunday Shamiga 24, Hope Edet Okon 27, and Unagbon Isaiah 31.
The police recovered two locally made pistols and 18 live cartridges. All suspects confessed to several kidnappings in Lagos and Akwa Ibom State.
The taxi driver who normally trails victims for the gang is still at large.
