Tanker explosion kills two, displaces over 100 traders



Two persons were killed and over 100 traders displaced today after a tanker, loaded with petroleum, lost control and exploded at the Ebute area of Ikorodu, Lagos State.

Eye witnesses’ accounts said that two persons were burnt to death in the explosion which occurred around 6:45am. One of the deceased is the conductor of the tanker, while the second is a motorcyclist.
Two cars, two cows and buildings were also burnt.
The tanker was ascending  'Odo-eran' bus-stop, when it lost control and tumbled to the other side of the road. 
It fell on a Mazda 606 and both went up in flame. The fire spread to a nearby abattoir which hosts some of the affected uncompleted buildings, a cold room; make shift structures and two cows meant to be slaughtered that day.The makeshift shops belong to several traders, struggling to survive.
