Friends, colleagues and Nigerians have taken to
Facebook, to express their shock and outrage over the calamity that befell Lekan
and Ronke Shonde.
Eyi Oludeji said there was no justifiable reason for
a man to kill another, let alone his wife.
Adebayo Hameed said the incident was
hard for him to believe. He described it as saddening.
Olubis Williams Adenuga, reacting to
the incident, said: “
I still find it hard and difficult
to believe that this happened to this beautiful family friend! Uncle Lekan! You
can't just intentionally kill your wife! You guys loved each other. What went
wrong? How, when and where? You don't drink nor smoke. You’re cool headed and a
caring father to your children. When did all this start? What went wrong? I
can't just believe this nor am I dreaming?
I still believe you didn't kill your lovely wife until I hear from your
mouth! Who is going to take care of Tiara your lovely princess and Temi your
look-alike son? Ronke Bewaji may your beautiful soul rest in peace!”
Ngozi Uzochukwu said: “What sad
news! Shonde is a nice and cool person since I have known him. He’s a loving
and caring father. May the gently soul of his wife rest in peace amen.”
Those who commented on Ronke’s Facebook,
called her sister, saying they would miss her.
Sheriff Ogunbekun said: “These
senseless killings happen to men too. A lawyer that was supposed to know better
killed her husband in Ibadan recently.”
Ekundayo Adeniran said he was still stunned over the
incident.
He asked: “What could
have led this man to slaughter his beloved sweet-heart, leaving their distraught,
grief-stricken children wailing over the dead-cold body of her slain body!
Imagine the agony and trauma these innocent tots would be plunged into through
all the rest of their lives. Simply unimaginable. Now which animal called man
could dream it normal to bring this insane agony upon his family? What penalty
does he deserve? I wonder. I just wonder.”
Powei Otrofanowei has
this to say, “People should learn to control their anger and other destructive
emotions. They should seek help, counseling if they need to. Who knows, perhaps
his late wife by her actions pushed him to the edge. Some women just don't know
when to stop. If a man is quick to anger, shut up or leave the scene for some
time. Never, ever hide or tolerate domestic violence. Now look at the mess. I
even feel sorry for Lekan.”
Angelic Brown said that no matter how terrible, “your wife can be, if you can’t
tolerate her, then move out or divorce her, instead of killing her. Come to
think of it, he who has no sin and innocent in a relationship should throw the
first stone. I want justice on the innocent soul.”
