  • Team members detained
A police sergeant, attached to the Lagos State Police Command, Ikeja, had gone into hiding, after blowing out the brains of a suspected Indian hemp dealer.

Corporal Benjamin Oble, was said to have escaped after he shot three bullets into the head of the fleeing suspect at the Ikorodu area of Lagos.
The suspect died immediately at the spot. When Oble realised that he had killed, he dropped his rifle at the scene and disappeared. The raiding of the Indian hemp joint was led by one Inspector Samuel.
The raid was carried out on Saturday.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, ordered that the four men, including the inspector should be detained for allowing Oble to escape.
A police source said: “The police went to raid criminal hideout Indian hemp joint in Ikorodu. Immediately the Indian hemp dealers sighted the policemen, everyone in the joint scampered. The policemen pursued them. Corporal Oble pursued one of the fleeing suspects.
He repeatedly ordered the suspect to halt, but the man refused and kept running.
The suspect flagged and mounted a motorbike and the motorbike rider zoomed off. Oble continue to pursue them. “Worried that Oble was almost catching up with them due to the bad road, the suspect jumped off the motorbike and started running. Oble ordered him to stop once again, but he didn’t. Oble opened fire.
The three bullets got the suspects in the head. When Oble realised that the suspect was dead, he dropped his rifle and fled.” Since the incident, nobody had seen Oble. His colleague carried the dead to the station. When the joint was searched, bags of Indian hemp, machetes and axes were recovered.
Inspector Samuel and three of his men are still being held at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba.
