Kidnapping, cultism: CP orders relocation of headquarters of special squads


The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, CP Zubairu Muazu, has ordered the immediate relocation of the headquarters of the Special Anti-Kidnapping and Anti-Cultism squads.
According to the state’s Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bala Elkana, the move was in response to the abduction of the wife of the Clan Head of Obong, in Etim Ekpo Local Government Area on October 22, Mrs. Naomi Tuesday Jumbo.
Elkana said the victim was abducted by some hoodlums, numbering about eight, while driving to the palace at Ibio Edem Urua Village from a neighbouring village where they usually spend the night with the Clan Head.
Elkana further disclosed: “The Commissioner of Police Akwa Ibom State, CP Zubairu Muazu, visited the Clan Head in his palace, where he got first-hand information of the incident and ordered the immediate deployment of a team of Special Anti-kidnapping detectives to the area. Four suspects, Enobong Friday Nwankwo, Kufre Dick Obot, Teneime Solomon Udo and Inimeno Nkereuwem Inokon, all of Nkporikpo village and Ibio Edem Urua villages respectively, were arrested.”
The image maker disclosed that efforts have been intensified to rescue the victim and apprehend the remaining suspects.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police has ordered the temporary relocation of the Operation’s Headquarters of the Command’s Anti-kidnapping Squad to Etim Ekpo, to tackle the menace of kidnapping and cultism in the area.
