Lamboginny frees 27 inmates, calls for centre for minor crimes

A Nigerian musician and anti-crime Ambassador, Yinka Lawson, popularly known as Lamboginny has  freed 27 inmates with minor offences from Kirikiri Prison, after meeting their bail conditions.
According to the musician, the Kirikiri Prison needed to be decongested as soon as possible. He said that the medium security prison presently has over 4000 inmates, instead of 1,700 inmates.
Lamboginny said: “I will like to plead with the Lagos State Government to find another correctional facility for people arrested by the state task force. Sending such people to Kirikiri Prison could lead to minors getting mixed with hardened criminals. This can make such youths to become criminals after leaving prisons.”
He further said: “I know the state cannot have its own state prison, but if a facility is created and handed over to the Nigerian Prisons, these offenders can be sent there. This will help the state convert the manpower of these offenders into community service, including farming. I’m just a musician crying out on behalf of these inmates.”
Lamboginny expressed gratitude to the Nigerian Prison Service and his pastor for the release of the 27 inmates from the prison. He said that he was pleased to facilitate the release of inmates.
He said: “My special thanks goes to my pastor Special thanks to my pastor and the Nigerian Prisons for working with us to make this happen. I also thank everyone who contributed financially in helping us to realize and meet these bail conditions.”
