Man arrested for killing his sleeping parents


 A 33-year-old man, Osinachi Amanze of Umuosama, Umuokiri Nvosi in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State, who allegedly murdered his parents in cold blood, has been arrested.

Amanze was arrested by policemen from Omoba Police Station, under Abia State Command of Nigeria Police. Another suspect, Chinacha Peter, 45, was also arrested in connection with the murder case.


The Abia State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Geoffrey Ogbonna, confirming the incident, said that the two suspects were already in police custody.


Ogbonna added that the bodies of the victims, identified as Jonah Amanze 92 and Gold Amanze, 65, had been deposited at the morgue, awaiting autopsy.
Ogbonna said that an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), Rowland Ikpeama, retired, in company of the village head, reported that Osinachi Amanze killed his parents, while they were sleeping.

Ogbonna said: “During interrogation, the suspect confessed to have carried out the act with Chinacha Peter 45. Chinacha has been arrested by the police. Chidozie Abia of Amaokwe Ani-nri Local Government Area, Enugu State, residing at Amuhi Eluoma Uzuakoli has also been arrested for attempting to murder 75-year-old Elizabeth Uzoma Azunnaya. Igwe Azunnaya of Amuda Eluoma village Uzuakoli reported at Uzoakoli Police Station that his mother went to her farmland at Amankwo village Uzuakoli to harvest cassava, and while his mother was in the farmland, Mr Abia hit her on the right hand with a big stick. She raised the alarm to attract villagers to come to her rescue, but he allegedly inflicted machete cuts on her left hand.
“Detectives attached to the station swiftly moved in and arrested the suspect. Police also recovered exhibits used in the acts, while the victim was rushed to hospital for treatment.”
