Man, 24, arrested for impersonating Mike Adenuga

Ehioboh Lucky
Police in Ogun State have arrested a 24-year-old man, Ehioboh Lucky, for allegedly impersonating billionaire businessman and Globacom chairman, Dr Mike Adenuga.

The suspect, who hails from Edo State, was said to have defrauded one of his victims to the tune of N1,028,770.

He allegedly promised to get employment for a victim at the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) before luck eventually ran against him.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the arrest of Lucky, said one IPhone 6, one Dell laptop, eight different SIM cards, five different ATM cards and one international passport were recovered from the suspect.

Oyeyemi, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, revealed that the suspect opened a Facebook account with the name and picture of the business mogul.

He added that the suspect had allegedly been using the Facebook account to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

The PPRO, however, said he was arrested following a complaint by one Abiola Olalekan Ogunseye, whom the suspect has defrauded up to the tune of N1,028,770.

Oyeyemi said: "One of his victims, Abiola Olalekan Ogunseye, came into contact with him on Facebook where he promised to get employment for him at Nigeria National Petroleum Company (NNPC), but the victim has paid the sum of N1.5 million to settle some members of management board of the corporation who will influence his appointment. The sum of N1,028,770 has so far been paid to the suspect before the victim realised that he was dealing with a fraudster.

"The victims lodged complaint via a petition to the Commissioner of Police and officer in charge of Anti-Kidnapping and Cultism, CSP Opeyemi Kujoore, was directed to go after the suspect.  After weeks of investigation, the suspect was apprehended on November 6,  2017."
