Phone repairer arraigned for stabbing customer to death

A phone technician, Godwin Simon, was yesterday arraigned before an Ikeja High Court for allegedly stabbing his customer, Bankoke Olubode to death.
Simon, who pleaded not guilty, was arraigned on a one count charge of murder brought against him by the Lagos State Government.
According to the Prosecutor, Mrs. T.A Aderiye, the offence was committed on December 1, 2016 at No. 1, Sadiku Street, Abule Egba area of Lagos State.
Aderiye said that Simon had allegedly stabbed Olubode in the neck with a knife, leading to his death.
The deceased was said to have given Simon some phones to repair. When the deceased went back to collect his phones, he discovered that one of the phone’s batteries had been replaced with an inferior one.
The deceased waited in vain for Simon who was not around at that time to return.
Shortly after the deceased returned home and had his dinner, Simon rushed into the compound, demanding payment for the repairs carried out on the phones.
When the deceased refused to pay him on the account of the changed inferior battery, Simon began throwing things at Olubode, which he repeatedly dodged.
He, thereafter, stabbed the deceased in the neck during a scuffle. The deceased fainted from severe loss of blood and was rushed to the hospital where he eventually died.
Simon, thereafter, was apprehended by neighbours and handed over to the police. The presiding judge, Justice Sedotan Ogunsanya adjourned the matter till January 8, 2018 for trial.
