Abductors grab oil magnate, demand N50m ransom ─ Police

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnappers who allegedly abducted a Lagos oil magnate, Alhaji Hammed Fashola, in the Egbeda area of Lagos.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the suspects, who are siblings ─ Kelvin Igah and Victor Igah ─ were nabbed by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad on Odeniyi Ishola Street, Isheri Oshun, Lagos.
Our correspondent gathered that the gang had abducted Fashola, who was said to be an executive of the Independent Petroleum Marketers’ Association of Nigeria, near his home in Egbeda on Thursday, November 13 at about 7pm.
It was learnt that after his abduction, the suspects who were believed to be in touch with the family, allegedly demanded a ransom of N50m.
Our correspondent gathered that upon information received by the police, the SARS decoy teams tracked the location of the suspects. Four days later, the kidnappers’ hideout in the Isheri Oshun area was located.
PUNCH Metro learnt that the police secured the release of 55-year-old Fashola and arrested Kelvin, 39, and Victor, 35 ─ the two suspects staying in the hideout ─ on November 17 at about 6pm.
According to the police, the victim, who owns Kings Petroleum, Lagos, was chained in the toilet before he was rescued.
The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Kenneth Nwosu, while confirming the incident, added that investigations were ongoing at the SARS.
He said, “The two suspects are brothers from Kwali, Delta State.
“Efforts are still on to arrest the remaining gang members. The case is under investigation at the SARS, Ikeja.”
A police source told PUNCH Metro, however, said a third member of the gang had also been arrested.http://www.punchng.com/metro-plus/abductors-grab-oil-magnate-demand-n50m-ransom-%E2%94%80-police/
