MAN ESCAPES DEATH AFTER ATTEMPT TO STEAL TWO-YEAR-OLD GIRL

An unknown man was almost lynched alive at the Ajegunle area of Lagos State on Saturday, after he attempted to steal a two-year-old girl.

Eye witnesses claimed that the man, who managed to flee from his assailants, came to the Ajeromi/Ifelodun Local Government Council Secretariat, where the mother of the baby was frying yam and baked beans and pretended that he was waiting to buy some bean cake.

The mother of the girl, Blessing, was frying her bean cakes some metres away from where her sister, Abigail sat with the little girl, identified as Mercy.

Shortly after, the man walked to where Blessing was frying her bean cake, pretended like he conferred with her and walked back to Abigail, to tell her that Blessing asked him to bring Mercy.

Abigail innocently handed Mercy to the man, looked away and started chatting with other people around. The man stealthily walked away. He was already mounting a commercial bike, when Blessing suddenly glanced up from her frying and saw a strange man making away with her daughter. She screamed in alarm, alerting people.

The commercial rider, who was almost about to ride away, halted and people descended on the man, beating him black and blue.

The man was still receiving beatings, when he suddenly saw an opening, seized his chance and escaped.
