As former Lagos State Governor, Senator Bola Tinubu of All Progressives Congress (APC) charged the electorates to use charms and other, perhaps diabolical methods to defend their votes in the forthcoming 2015 general elections, it dawned on me that my worst fear was beginning to unfold.Charging them to do whatever it takes to defend their votes, is almost like handing them guns and machete to unleash hell on election day.
If politicians are ready to kill themselves; Nigerians are not. I’m not!
Politics is not a do or die affair. If they see it that way, it because of their own selfish interest, not because of the masses; You and I. Nigerian politics is a vicious one of recycling syndrome. Same faces, same names, same agenda, same greed. Nothing new. Any wonder the country is recycling and not moving forward?
This election will take blood if the security agencies are caught napping. They should begin surveillance and underground investigation
Hear the words of Tinubu and know why heart pounds in fright. I hope the Inspector General of Police, Department of State Secret Service(DSS), military intelligence and others are paying attention.
He said: “ I also want to charge the people of Osun State to arm themselves with local rings, armlets and whatever they have to defend the 2015 general election and liberate themselves from the Goodluck Jonathan-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). People should stand firm to defend their votes in 2015 as they did in Osun State. I salute your steadfastness to make over 30,000 armed policemen shameful. I want to assure you that what they stole from us in Ekiti will be reclaimed. I charge you to be fully prepared against the 2015 presidential election by being brave and valiant to monitor your votes during the coming election. The revolution they don’t understand, which they call violence, has started.”
