8 suspected robbers held, 3 pistols, 14 cartridges recovered

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested eight suspected armed robbers and recovered three pistols and 14 cartridges from them.
The suspects were arrested in different part of the metropolis and on different dates.

The Police Public Relations Officer  (PPRO), Mr. Kenneth Nwosu, who confirmed the arrest of the suspects, said they were already assisting police in its investigations.
The first of three suspects; Mr. Manven Bali,
Chekwube Emeka and Ejike Chukwuemeka were arrested on February 9, around 8p.m at their hide out in Ojodu and Ikorodu areas of the state. They were arrested by the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), Ikeja, Lagos State Command. Two locally made double barrel pistols and 14
cartridges were recovered from them.
Nwosu noted: “Since the arrest of the three men, they had confessed to different robberies they carried out in Lagos and Ogun States. We’re already hunting for one Alhaji Nuhu who the suspects claimed is the receiver of their stolen goods.”
It was further gathered that a Police Patrol team, attached to Ketu Division, while on ‘Stop and Search’duty at Mile 12 area, intercepted a Toyota Starlet Sport car, marked XA 989 REL, with Lagos commercial colour. The car was driven by one Kunle Owori No.15 Anike Abu Street, Bariga with two occupants. On sighting the police, one of the occupants jumped out of the vehicle and took to his
heels, while the other occupant, Abiola Shittu and Kunle Owori were arrested.
Nwosu also said that on February 15, around 11:45pm, Police Anti-Robbery team, attached to Adeniji Adele division arrested, Segun Gabriel and Quadri Oyeniran
after police received a call from Isale-Eko area of Lagos. The suspects allegedly attacked passersby with the intention to rob them. On February 12, around 5pm. Police patrol team, attached to Epe Police Station responded to a call at Aiyetoro area of Epe and arrested
one Kayode Sefiu who was nursing a bullet wound. He later confessed that his gang members escaped, but his wound didn’t allow him to bolt.
“Police took Sefiu to General hospital for treatment. Effort is on to arrest the hoodlum who fled at the arrival
of the police. The cases are under investigation,” said Nwosu.
